shade / shadow

En inglés tenemos dos palabras para referirnos a la sombra: shade que hace alusión a un espacio o lugar en el que hay ausencia de luz solar directa y shadow que se refiere a la silueta oscura proyectada por un cuerpo. En consecuencia, shadow siempre va ligada a ese cuerpo que procura la sombra. Shade, por su parte, también significa 'oscuridad' y 'tonalidad'.
